SACRED VATICAN TOUR
::: Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday. |
This tour (3 hours on foot, moderate walking) passes through the greater part of the famous Vatican Museums before reaching the Sistine Chapel as follows: Courtyard of the Pinecone, Chiaramonti Museums, Pius-Clementine Museum (the Belvedere Courtyard, Room of the Animals, Room of the Muses, the Round Room, the Greek Cross Room), Gallery of the Candelabra, Gallery of Tapestries, Gallery of Maps. If the Raphael Rooms are included (always optional, time permitting), our route would continue through the Immaculate Conception and Sobieski Rooms (in the Apartment of Pius V). The Raphael Rooms comprise the Rooms of Constantine, Heliodorus, Signature and the Room of the Fire in the Borgo. Optional rooms which are always open include the Borgia Apartment and Egyptian Museum.
The Gallery of Maps leads to the Sistine Chapel without having to pass through the Raphael Rooms. If you want to see them, the Apartment of Pius V must be passed through first as above. The Chariot Room, Gregorian Profane Museum and Carriage Pavilion have never been open to the public in our experience. If you wish to see the Missionary Ethnological Museum, let us know well in advance.
